In an intelligence driven operation, Anti-Gang Unit members armed with a search warrant descended on a place of residence in Gugulethu where they seized two firearms with ammunition and an assortment of large quantities of drugs worth just over a million rand on Wednesday afternoon 1 September 2021.

The police contingent comprising AGU detectives, intelligence operatives and the combat team pounced on the premises in NY 155 on Wednesday, at 16:40 and discovered the following:

28 000 X mandrax tablets with an estimated value of R840 000-00.
18, 63 grams X Cannabis with an estimated street value of R300-00.
1 999, 63 grams X Crystal Methamphetamine (Tik) with an estimated street value of R200 000-00.
0, 63 grams X Crack Cocaine (Rock) with an estimated street value of R500-00.
Two 9mm firearms with rounds of ammunition.

The combined estimated value of the consignment of drugs is R1 040 800.

The suspects aged 28 and 32 will appear in court soon on charges of possession of drugs and illegal firearms and ammunition.

The efforts of the team of police is commended by SAPS management as police continue to deal with illegal firearms and drugs that generate serious violent crimes.
