Six gang members including a notorious gang leader arrested during a “Take Down operation” in Kuilsriver on Friday morning, 16 November 2018, will appear in court on Monday, 19 November 2018. A multidisciplinary team consisting of various units of SAPS successfully executed a takedown operation in the early hours of Friday morning, where seven suspected gang members were arrested.

The suspects aged between 25 and 36 were arrested at Victoria and La Paloma Flats in Kuilsriver.

They are facing over a 100 charges in terms of the Prevention of Organized Crime Act (POCA). The Transportation Board, SARS, and the Asset Forfeiture Unit form part of the investigation, which is guided by a dedicated prosecutor from the NPA.

During the raid, six suspected drug dens were visited and a substantial amount of cash, two hard drives and six cellular telephones were seized.

The Provincial Commissioner of the Western Cape, Lt Gen Jula hailed the efforts of the officers for executing the arrests and restoring trust in the South African Police Service. The arrests of these suspects are in line with the Strategy of the Provincial Commissioner to target kingpins of organised Criminal groupings and to seize their assets with the assistance of the Asset Forfeiture Unit.
