As part of ongoing efforts to rid communities of drug dealing that generates other serious violent crimes, detectives from the organised crime unit (narcotics) descended on a residence in Mfuleni where they seized drugs, cash, electronic gadgets and arrested a 48-year-old suspect on Friday evening 18 December 2020.

The arrest and seizures are part of concerted efforts focusing on specific targets that deal with drugs. Upon searching the house in Ziqhamo Street, the detectives discovered the following items:

1000 X mandrax tablets
4 X fraudulent driving licenses (purporting to be issued in Ghana)
3 X cellphones
1 X laptop
1 X tablet
1 X laminator
R6 000-00 cash

The suspect, who tried to evade arrest was subsequently arrested and will appear in the Blue Downs court on Monday, 21 December 2020. He is believed to be linked to other cases.

The unrelenting efforts of the unit are commended by SAPS management as they, without fail, pursue illicit activity linked to crime syndicates.
