A joint operation in Cape Town CBD area conducted by Commercial Crime Investigation in collaboration with Law enforcement of the City of Cape Town, CCID and Vuzela Security (contracted by the banking industry) led to the arrest of three suspects.

The suspects, all aged between 20 and 46 were found in possession of cash and multiple bank and or SASSA cards of different card holders, for which no reasonable explanation could be given.

Further investigation positively identify at least one of the arrested suspects, wanted by the Bishop Lavis SAPS, for other crimes.

A white VW Polo used by the suspects, cash and the cards were seized and the suspect will appear in Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 13 December 2021, where their application to be released on bail will be opposed.

The public is sensitized to be vigilant when using their bank cards, to ensure that these type of offenders do not have access to their pin numbers.

Integrated efforts by our directives to bring perpetrators to book, landed several suspects behind bars on charges related to murder, attempted murder, assault GHB, common robbery, sexual offences, firearm and drug related charges. The suspects were on our wanted list and evaded their prosecution.

A total of 538 wanted suspects were arrested during these tracing operations.
