On Saturday, 16 December 2017 at about 21:30, members of Operation Combat were busy with a crime intelligence driven operation on a foot patrol in conjunction with the vision of back to basics.

Their attention was drawn to Albertus Court in Steenberg.

A number of persons age between 19 and 30 years there were searches and also six arrest were made. A large quantity of dagga was seized.

Members also followed up information about a firearm being kept at a premises in Langevlei Road, Retreat. They found a shoe box in a chest of draws and upon opening it a .38 Special Revolver and four .38 live rounds were found in it. The firearm belongs to a person who was not present, but left it with his son whilst he is in Namibia. Because there was no safe present inside the house the firearm was confiscated and handed in at Steenberg SAPS.
