Chinonso Pascal Eze (33) and Pamella Mendrew (26) appeared at the Cape Town Regional Court today on charges of fraud.

The couple was arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation unit yesterday for allegedly defrauding several vulnerable and unsuspecting women through an online dating scam, all to an estimated value of R1.2 million.

During the arrest, the team seized a vehicle, cell phones, bank cards and statements suspected to be the proceeds of crime. The case against the duo was postponed to the 21 August 2018 for bail application.

On a separate and unrelated matter, four suspects appeared at the Specialised Commercial Court in Bellville on the 15 August 2018.

They were all charged for vehicle finance fraud after submitting fraudulent documents that aided a recruited client to obtain vehicle finance worth over R175 000. The vehicle was purchased at a car dealer in Strand in April 2014.

Stanford Flandorp (59), Alicia Knowles (43), Eva Flandorp (55) Garry Bruce (36) were each released on R5 000 bail and are expected to be back at court on 28 September 2018.
