Yesterday, 22 June 2016 at about 20:45, a 27-year-old Police Constable attached to Pinelands Flying Squad was walking with a friend along Ngcwalazi Drive, Llitha Park, Khayelitsha when he witnessed two unknown suspects robbing female victims.
Without hesitating, the officer intervened and tried to apprehend the robbers.
A shoot-out ensued and the constable was wounded.
He is in a stable condition in hospital.
The suspects fled on foot and it is unknown at this stage whether any of them sustained any injuries.
