A shooting incident occurred early hours of this morning at a petrol station along Delft Main Road, Delft, Cape Town.
Members from Delft SAPS were attending to a call of business robbery in progress.
On arrival they were ambushed by two AK-47 wielding suspects who shot at them, before fleeing the scene.
The suspects were joined by three balaclava clad accomplices who had been inside the store at the time, leaving behind explosives, which points to an ATM bombing attempt gone wrong.
The Constable succumbed to the injuries on the scene whilst a Warrant Officer is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
Investigations are underway. No arrests have been made as yet.
We urge members of the community to expose and report those involved by calling Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
