Following an intense investigation by Warrant Officer Elton Logenstein into the murder of the Gift of the Givers volunteer Amieroodeen Noordien and the attempted murder of three others in Surwood Walk, Hanover Park on Saturday, 19 May 2018, the Western Cape High court found Adrian Carelse (27) and Raiden Lekutu (22) guilty of murder, attempted murder and the illegal possession of a firearm.

The victims were shot while they were at a tuck shop on that evening.

Thorough investigations into the matter led the investigating officer to the suspects who were arrested and charged.

The accused and his co-accused were sentenced on Monday 28 November 2022, to an effective 25 years in prison for the hideous crime they committed.

The Western Cape police management welcomed the sentence and commended the investigating officer and the prosecution team for a job well done in securing the sentences.
