Police have opened cases of murder and attempted murder following a fatal shooting incident in the Marikana informal settlement on Saturday evening that left three men and a woman dead, and one other person injured.
According to reports, the incident occurred at approximately 21:30 on Disa Road. Two unidentified gunmen entered a residential yard and fired multiple shots at the occupants.
Upon arrival at the scene, emergency services confirmed that four individuals—three men and one woman—had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. A fifth victim was found with injuries and transported to a medical facility for treatment. Reports indicate that another woman who was also injured during the shooting had left the location before police arrived.
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The investigation has been transferred to the Provincial Serious Violent Crime detectives, who have launched a manhunt for the two perpetrators.
