A mother and son-duo, aged 44 and 25 respectively, are scheduled to appear in the George magistrates’ court on Tuesday, 31 August 2021 in connection with the brutal murder of the 40-year-old Bonga Menzi of Zone 5, Phelandaba, Thembalethu, near George on Saturday evening, 28 August 2021 at about 20:00.
Preliminary investigation reveals that a witness to the horrific attack on the deceased called the Thembalethu police at approximately 20:00 where after members were immediately dispatched to the residence in Zone 5 where the incident allegedly happened.
Upon arrival members found the deceased who had already succumbed to multiple injuries, with his head smashed. The witnesses than identified and pointed out the two suspects to members who affected their arrests.
Members also found bricks, a dust bin, wood pieces and a wheel spanner on the scene that were confiscated as evidence. It is alleged that the suspects and deceased had an argument where after the mentioned items were used to fatally assault the deceased.
The suspects is scheduled to appear in the George magistrates’ court on Tuesday, 31 August 2021, once they have been charged with murder.
