More guns and drugs recovered, Tafelsig

On Thursday 13 June 2019, at about 14:20, Mitchells Plain Crime Prevention Unit members were busy with crime prevention duties in Sharon Street, Tafelsig, when they stopped and searched a suspicious looking male.

When police searched the suspect, they found 21 units of heroin in his possession. The 27 year old man was arrested and faces charges of possession of drugs.

At about 21:37, members were busy with crime prevention duties, when they stopped and searched a suspicious male in Assegaaibos Street, Tafelsig. When police searched the 23 year old suspect, they found a silver 9mm Beretta pistol with its serial number filed off. It contained a magazine with seven 9mm rounds. The suspect was arrested and faces a charge of possession of prohibited firearm and a second charge of possession of ammunition. The suspect is an alleged gang member.

Later the same day at about 18:00 members were busy with crime prevention duties in Jonkershoek Street, Tafelsig when they stopped and searched a suspicious looking male. They searched the suspect, and found 21 half Mandrax tablets, five packets of tik and five units of heroin in his possession. Police arrested the 54 year old on a charge of possession of drugs.

All the arrested suspects are due to appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 18 June 2019, on the mentioned charges.
