Police attached to Philippi SAPS participated with the community to address the causes of crime and brought a perpetrator to justice.

A 28 year old woman was arrested after her home in an informal settlement next to Jakes Gerwel Drive Philippi was searched by the police on 14 February 2018, at about 14:00.

Police acted on information they had received about drugs being sold at the address and, upon searching the residence, they discovered a large quantity of Unga, worth an estimated street value of R5000.

Police confiscated the drugs and arrested a 28 year old woman, who, once charged, is expected to appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court for the illegal possession of drugs.

The police in the Western Cape embrace the partnerships with the various communities in the province, who work tirelessly with them to increase safety and remove drugs from the areas.
