More drugs and ammunition recovered, Cape Town

In ensuring that we eliminate the illegal drug trade, members attached to Mfuleni Crime Prevention Unit arrested an 18 year old man who was found in possession of illegal substances in Hindle Road in Silver Sands on the afternoon of 1 October 2019.

The vigilant members were busy conducting crime prevention and stop and search operations in the area when they saw a suspicious man in the area. He tried to evade police and the members gave chase and arrested him. Upon conducting a body search he was found in possession of a plastic bag filled with mandrax tablets and packets of tik that are estimated to be worth R50 000.

The suspect will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates Court on Thursday, 3 October 2019, on the mentioned charges.

In a separate incident, the members of the Anti Gang Unit arrested an 18 year old man who was found in possession of one hundred 9mm rounds.

The swift response executed by the members after they were informed by a concerned community member about firearms and ammunition being stored at a premises led them to the arrest. According to reports the members headed to the mentioned address of the suspect and searched the premises where the ammunition was found.

The suspect is expected to make a court appearance soon in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate Court for possession of ammunition.
