WESTERN CAPE — A significant Milnerton illegal firearms arrest has taken a suspected arms dealer off the streets following a targeted police operation. Authorities apprehended a 29-year-old Nigerian national on Friday afternoon, 14 August 2026, at 16:00, after uncovering a cache of unlicensed guns and nearly 100 rounds of ammunition at a residential property in nearby Century City.

According to the Police Spokesperson, the successful bust was the result of a self-initiated operation conducted jointly by members of the Public Order Police and Provincial Organised Crime detectives. Acting on specific intelligence regarding a foreign national unlawfully stockpiling weapons, the task team operationalized the information and executed a search at the Bridge Water Apartments on Conference Lane.

Inside the Century City premises, officers discovered and seized four unlicensed firearms alongside 98 rounds of ammunition. The Police Spokesperson confirmed that the suspect was immediately arrested on the scene and detained at the Milnerton police station for processing.

Beyond the weapons and ammunition, authorities also confiscated several high-value electronic devices as exhibits for further investigation. The seized items include five smartphones and three laptops, which were officially handed in alongside the four firearms and 98 rounds of ammo.

The 29-year-old suspect is scheduled to face justice swiftly. He is expected to appear at the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 17 August 2026, to answer to the charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
