In the fight against the seemingly lucrative drug trade, police members detained two males and one female on a charge of dealing in drugs.

Police members attached to Operation Restore deployed in the Western Cape to quell the ongoing gang violence, pursued information of drug dealing in Wallacedene in Kraaifontein on Saturday 09 March 2024. Upon entering, they searched the premises and confiscated a bag filled with dagga. This resulted in the arrests of a 19-year-old female on a charge of dealing in drugs.

In an unrelated incident police members responded to information of drug dealing in Mnvelmano Street in Harare. Upon arrival they searched the premises and confiscated a consignment of loose dagga, and dagga cigarettes. They arrested a 29-year-old man on a charge of dealing in drugs.

Meanwhile, the members proceeded to Malgas Street in Wesbank where they ensued with a search of the pre-identified address. Their patience were rewarded when they confiscated 195 mandrax tablets and detained a 62-year-old man on a charge of dealing in drugs.

Whilst driving down Wesbank Main Road, the police members conducted a stop and search operation during which they detained a 19-year-old man who was found in possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.

The suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Blue Downs and Khayelitsha Magistrates’ courts, once charged.
