A 63-year-old suspect is expected to appear in court this week following his arrest in the early hours of 26 January 2021, in Ngqabe Street in Crossroads. The suspect was busted while trying to hide a firearm from the police who were tracing a wanted suspect for a case at another station.

When members arrived at the address, one of the members checked at the back of the house and he noticed a man coming out of the house carrying something that looked like a firearm wrapped in a yellow cloth.

When the suspect saw the police he disposed of it in his neighbour’s yard. The suspect was instructed to pick it up and indeed it was an R5 assault rifle. The suspect was arrested.

Meanwhile a 30-year-old suspect was also arrested in possession of mandrax in Lindela Road in Mau-Mau, Nyanga. Members were on patrol when they busted the suspect.

In a separate incident a 62 year-old man was arrested during an intelligence driven operation conducted at a residence in Carissa Drive in Ruyterwacht in Elsies River. The suspect was found in possession of cash, dagga and mandrax worth an estimated street value of R27 450.

The members attached to the Provincial Integrated Team arrested a 33-year-old man last night after he was found in possession of a prohibited firearm in Site C, Khayelitsha.

Once charged the suspects will appear in the respective magistrates’ courts.
