The vigilance of members attached to the Mitchells Plain Crime Prevention Unit led to the arrest of a 21 year old suspect on charges of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

On Sunday 19 May 2019, at about 17:00, members were busy with crime prevention duties in the Tafelsig area, when they stopped and searched a suspicious looking male in Banhoek Street, Tafelsig.

Members found him to be in possession of a black 7.65 Pistol with serial number intact, one magazine and one 7.65mm round. Police arrested the male.

He appeared on Monday 20 May 2019, in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court on the mentioned charges.
