The Crime Prevention Unit attached to Vredenburg SAPS followed vital information on 21 January 2020, and pounced on a residence where they arrested a 31 year old suspect for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
It is reported that the Unit was following information provided and on arrival in Swart Street they discovered the following:
1X Norinco Star, 1X handgun, 1X. 38 revolver, 5 X .38 special rounds of ammunition, 9X shotgun rounds of ammunition and 1X magazine.
The suspect has been charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. He will appear in court in Vredenburg on Thursday, 23 January 2020.
Western Cape SAPS management has commended the efforts of the members for removing illegal firearms that cause serious harm to so many people.
