On Sunday, 4 February 2018, at about 19:30 Mitchells Plain Crime Prevention Unit members received information from the community about drugs being sold on the field near Epsom Crescent, Beacon Valley, Mitchells Plain.

When police spotted a suspect male and managed to apprehend him they found 71 packets of Tik on his possession. Police arrested a 32 year old male.

The suspect faces a charge of possession of drugs. The suspect is expected to soon appear in court.

Western Cape Provincial Commissioner Lt Gen KE Jula says that the police will continue tirelessly to clamp down on crime in the area, that partnership policing is the key to safer and drug free communities. He thanked the community for forwarding information about crime which led to the arrest.
