The recent sentence handed down to 41 year old rape accused Johan Dowes, is an indication of the seriousness and focus that we place on our investigations into priority crimes, such as crimes perpetrated against women and children.

On Wednesday, 22 February 2018, the 41 year old accused from Avian Park in Worcester was sentenced in the Worcester Regional Court to life imprisonment for sexually abusing a 14 year old child over a period from 2014 to 2015. During the trial the accused showed no remorse for his actions of having sexual intercourse with the child.

The Western Cape Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General K E Jula commended the investigating officer for his dedication and commitment in tracing and apprehending such a heartless criminal and removing him from the community.
