On 2 January 2018, vigilant police members attached to the Crime Intelligence office, were patrolling the Ottery area when they observed a blue BMW x 5 motor vehicle parked in front of a well known drug outlet in Keith Road.

Upon spotting the SAPS members, a man who was on his way to the vehicle, turned back towards the residence. SAPS members managed to get to the suspect before he could close the burglar gate and door.

Upon searching the dirt bin in which members had seen the man throw something, they found a large amount of cash wrapped in cling wrap.

A further search revealed more cash which was found inside the stove and the fridge.

The suspect, aged 28, was brought in for questioning, and the undisclosed amount of cash was confiscated and handed over to the NPA (Asset Forfeiture). An inquiry will be opened and investigated by Grassy Park SAPS.

The cash is suspected to be the proceeds of drug dealing, and it is believed that the suspect was on his way to pay the cash to the driver of the blue BMW.

The Grassy Park Police Acting Station Commander, Christian Esau, who was part of the confiscation, showed his appreciation towards the police members involved. Anyone with information on crime in the Grassy Park area is kindly requested to contact 021 700 3940 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111.

All information will be treated as highly confidential.
