Efforts by the Ladismith Police to successfully address gender based violence and to eradicate such acts aimed against our most vulnerable, our women and children, yielded positive results when members attached to Ladismith SAPS arrested a 18-year-old man in connection with the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl in Lang Street, Ladismith.

Preliminary information reveals that the victim was awakened at about 03:30 on Sunday, 25 April 2021 when she realised that the suspects had just raped her.

The mom of the 14-year-old victim accompanied her to the local police station where they reported the rape.

As a result, the 18-year-old suspect was arrested at about midday on Sunday, 25 April 2021. He is currently in detention and is expected to make his first court appearance in the Ladismith Magistrates’ court once charged.

Eden Cluster Commander, Maj Gen Reddy, has praised the members involved in the swift arrest that was made in just a few hours after the offence was committed.
