KUISRIVIER — Authorities have launched a major investigation following a significant Kuilsrivier drug bust that resulted in a R3 million drug seizure at a local bed and breakfast. A 29-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man were apprehended by the Anti-Economic Crime Task Team during the early morning operation targeting Western Cape narcotics trafficking.
The tactical intervention took place on Monday, 15 June 2026, at approximately 04:30. Acting on actionable intelligence regarding illicit activities, officers descended upon a bed and breakfast establishment located in the Langverwacht precinct.
Upon reaching the specified address, police discovered a man matching the provided suspect profile alongside a female companion inside one of the rooms. Parked directly outside their accommodation was a white VW Polo. During the initial assessment, officers spotted a large black bag resting on the vehicle’s rear seat through the window.
Police requested the male suspect to unlock the vehicle, which paved the way for a comprehensive search. The inspection yielded 51 bags packed with mandrax tablets and five kilograms of crystal methamphetamine. Alongside the illicit substances, officers confiscated R17,000 in cash, which is believed to be the proceeds of criminal activities.
All confiscated items, carrying an estimated street value of R3,000,000, have been formally entered into the police docket as exhibits.
The duo was immediately taken into custody on charges relating to the possession of and dealing in illegal substances. They remain in police holding cells and are scheduled to make their first court appearance at the Kuilsrivier Magistrate Court on Wednesday, 17 June 2026.
