A suspect was detained and arrested on Saturday after trying to steal from a local 24 Hour convenience store in Kuilsriver.
Bassett Alarms received a call for assistance from a local 24 Hour convenience store in Saxenberg, Blackheath at 08H56 and dispatched an armed response officer and members from Kuilsriver SAPS to investigate.
Both SAPS and the reaction officer arrived at the premises at 09H00.
The manageress informed the officers that a suspect man that was still in the business had put several unpaid items into his pockets.
The SAPS members detained the suspect and took him to the back of the shop to be searched.
They found the stolen items on him and also found a bag possibly containing Mandrax, Dagga (cannabis) and a dangerous weapon.
The suspect was arrested by the SAPS members and taken away for further investigation.
