Kleinvlei police in shootout with robbery suspects, Khayelitsha

The vigilance by members of Kleinvlei SAPS led to the arrest of two suspects, both age 28 years for the possession of stolen property and attack on police on the morning of 28 April 2022, at about 10:40 on the corner of Baden Powell and Japhta Masemula Drive, Khayelitsha.

The members reacted on a police broadcast about a white Toyota Quantum that was involved in the robbery of a cigarette delivery vehicle.

The vehicle was spotted and a chase and shootout between police and the suspects ensued. The vehicle was stopped in Khayelitsha and searched. Seventeen boxes containing cigarettes were found inside the vehicle, as well as a 9mm pistol.

Once charged the suspects will make a court appearance in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ court to face the charges against them.
