Integrated efforts by Kirstenhof and Diepriver SAPS and private security companies landed three suspects behind bars following a business robbery at a filling station in Kirstenhof on Wednesday morning, 30 November 2022.

The suspects’ vehicle was followed by the security company and was stopped in Diepriver. The vehicle was searched and a 9mm pistol and an undisclosed amount of cash was found in the vehicle.

Three males between the ages of 32 and 36 were arrested on charges of business robbery and the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Once charged the suspects will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ court on the mentioned charges.

In an unrelated matter, Atlantis Crime Prevention Unit arrested a 24-year-old male for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition when they responded to a shooting incident in Sterrechance Road, Atlantis on Wednesday morning.

The suspect was searched and found in possession of a 9mm pistol with ammunition. The members also followed up information given by the community and found a 9mm pistol and a homemade zip gun abandoned in a yard.

The firearms will be sent for ballistic testing to determine if it were used in other serious crimes.

The suspect will appear in the Atlantis Magistrates’ court on Friday, 2 December 2022.
