A combined effort by members of Maitland Flying Squad and a Kensington SAPS detective proved successful when they reacted on intelligence received of an alleged suspect in a murder investigation.

On Friday afternoon 3 December 2021, members saw the suspect driving towards them in the identified vehicle and gave chase. The suspects were seen discarding of an item out of the vehicle. The vehicle was brought to a stop and the two suspects, aged 25 and 36 were apprehended.

The members picked up the discarded parcel, where it was dropped and found it containing tik. The estimated street value of the Tik is R350 000.

Suspects will both appear on cases of possession of drugs in Cape Town Magistrates Court on Monday 6 December 2021.

The second suspect will also appear on a further charge of murder as he was positively linked to a murder case that took place in Kensington in November 2021.
