K9 unit arrests drug dealers, firearm recovered, Crossroads

Tip offs led to the recovery of mandrax tablets, an illegal firearm and ammunition, drug manufacturing powder and equipment, and cash in Sonwabile Drive and Amakhandlela Street in Crossroads.

While on patrol today at about 01:15 members of the K9 Unit acted on a tip off about a house selling drugs in Sonwabile Drive. They proceeded to the house and during a search they recovered 125 mandrax tablets and crashed mandrax powder hidden in a bucket. A man and a woman aged 24 and 20 were apprehended.

Again at about 02:00 two brothers aged 44 and 31 were also busted in Makhandlela Street. The duo were arrested by members attached to Operation Thunder after they received a tip off about an illegal firearm and drugs manufactured at a certain address. When they arrived at the house they recovered a 9mm pistol with six rounds hidden in a toiletry bag, 34 mandrax tablets and powder used to manufacture drugs, different manufacturing equipment, cash and a credit book with client’s names on it.

The two suspects aged 20 and 24 will appear in court once charged for dealing in drugs and the 31 and 44 year old will also appear for dealing and manufacturing of drugs , the 44 year old is also face an additional charge of the possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.
