Horrific home invasion: Couple severely beaten and terrorised, Langebaan

A couple from Langebaan were brutally assaulted and robbed during a home invasion in Myburgh Park, Langebaan, at about 01:00 on Saturday morning 5 October 2019. Tommy Swift (59) and his wife Maureen (52) were overpowered in their lounge by three black men. Maureen was repeatedly beaten and kicked in her face to such an extent that all her teeth were loose afterwards and Tommy was also severely assaulted and stabbed with a screwdriver in his face and head.

The couple’s small dog was also tied to Maureen’s back and the attackers threatened that they would slit the little dog’s throat if they don’t hand over their bank cards and Pin number. The attackers who gained entry to the house by removing a window demanded money and for the next two hours the attackers plundered the house whilst the couple were tied up and continuously terrorized.

The attackers loaded all household goods and appliances into the couple’s vehicle after which they fled.

The couple were taken to hospital for their wounds to be attended to. The vehicle was found abandoned later that morning. There have been no arrests.
