A 24 year old male was convicted of raping a 15 year old girl at her home in Charles Street, Bloekombos, Kraaifontein on 23 November 2017, when he broke into their house, threatened her with a knife and raped her.
The convicted rapist cannot be named to protect the identity of the victim. The suspect was pointed out by the victim, arrested and made his first appearance at Blue Downs Regional Court on 29 November 2017.
The state successfully opposed bail and the rapist has been in custody for the duration of the court proceedings. The rapist was convicted and sentenced to effective 23 years imprisonment on Tuesday, 27 August 2019 in the Blue Downs Regional Court.
