Strides to deal with the proliferation of hijackings in the area of Crossroads resulted in the arrest of suspects in the Nyanga Cluster.

The two suspects aged 19 and a teenager were arrested on 10 September 2019, in Crossroads. The 19 year old suspect was traced after a Taxify driver was robbed of his two cell phones and cash on Monday afternoon 9 september 2019, in Hani Street in crossroads. The second suspect, 17 was arrested just after he robbed another driver of his cell phone too in Crossroads as well. The suspects sent requests and when the drivers arrived pointed them with firearms and robbed them of their valuables.

In an unrelated incident police also busted a 27 year old suspect in possession of a hijacked vehicle. The members were on patrol in Ngulube Road when they noticed a Toyota Avanza with no registration plates. The members pulled the driver off the road and tested the vehicle and it came out positively hijacked in Nyanga last week. The driver was arrested and detained in Nyanga. .

Five suspects are expected to appear in court following their arrest in possession of a hijacked vehicle in Browns Farm and possession of stolen property in Crossroads.

Three suspects were apprehended after police recovered a stripped Toyota Corolla and a trailer while they were conducting a search at a residence in Klipfontein Mission in Crossroads. It was established that the vehicle was reported stolen in Pietermaritzburg in Durban. The trio aged 21, 24 and 37 were arrested and detained.

The other two suspects, 17 and 19 were arrested on Wednesday night 11 September 2019, after they were found in possession of a hijacked vehicle in Sagoloda Street in Browns Farm. The vehicle was reportedly hijacked early this month in Nyanga. An imitation firearm was also found during the incident.

All suspects will appear in the Athlone Magistrate Court once charged.
