The swift reaction of Lwandle police resulted in the arrest of a 29-year-old hijacker during the early hours of of 27 March 2021. The members were alerted that a hijacking was perpetrated in Lwandle and they immediately pursued the available information which led them to a residence where the suspect was arrested in possession of the stolen motor vehicle and an unlicensed firearm.

He is expected to make his court appearance in Strand on Monday, 29 March 2021.

In unrelated police interventions, members of the Provincial Integrated Team were conducting an operation focussed on the drug trade in Gugulethu when they arrested a 39-year-old female for the possession of dagga and cash with a total monetary value of R33 870-00.

The same team extended their operation to Mitchells Plain where a 39-year-old male was arrested in possession of tik and cash with a combined monetary value of R15 769-00.

Both suspects are scheduled to make their court appearances on Monday in Athlone and Mitchells Plain respectively.
