The Mitchell’s Plain police were patrolling and conducting stop and search operations during this week in Anna Marie Drive, Beacon Valley, Mitchells Plain, where they observed two people behaving suspiciously. Upon searching the duo, police seized a .38 special revolver with its serial number filed off, containing six live rounds of ammunition. Drugs worth a substantial amount were also seized from the same suspects. The two, a man and a woman, are aged 24 and 40, respectively.

On Wednesday 2 May 2018, at about 19:30, Mitchell’s Plain police members were conducting patrols at Wolfgat in Baden Powell drive, Tafelsig. The members noticed lights among the dunes and went to investigate. They noticed four men who were busy stripping a Toyota Avanza. Three of them evaded arrest, but one man was arrested. A 9mm pistol with 11 Luger rounds and a zip gun containing a round were found in his possession.

The vehicle was found to have been hijacked in a Mitchell’s Plain case. The suspect faces charges relating to the possession of unlicensed firearms, a prohibited firearm, ammunition and a stolen vehicle.

In a separate incident on Wednesday, the Mitchell’s plain police attended to a complaint of a vehicle which had been stolen. Upon their arrival at the scene, they observed a man stripping a black VW Polo Vivo motor vehicle. When the vehicle was tested on the police system, it was discovered that it had been reported stolen during a carjacking incident which took place in March 2018.

Police arrested a 40 year old man. The suspect faces charges related to the possession of a stolen motor vehicle. He is expected to appear in court soon.
