Two suspects aged 25 and 29 were arrested in Mfuleni on Friday 3 May 2019, after police received information on a LDV that was possibly stolen, being driven by the suspects in Mfuleni area. SAPS members attached to Mfuleni Crime Prevention Unit and Maitland K9 Unit found the vehicle in Mfuleni and arrested the two occupants.

Members also found one Norinco pistol with its serial number filed off and one magazine with ten 9mm rounds.

Further investigation confirmed that the vehicle was reportedly hijacked. The two suspects are both being detained for the possession of a hijacked vehicle and possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition. The recovered vehicle was towed to Stikland Vehicle investigations and Safeguarding Section for safekeeping and as exhibit.

Both suspects are expected to appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates Court on Monday 6 May 2019, on the mentioned charges.
