The swift response of police members who reacted on a tipoff, resulted in the arrest of four suspects for the possession of stolen liquor in Gugulethu on Tuesday evening 17 April 2018.

The four suspects, three males aged between 30 and 40 and a female aged 50 are due to make a court appearance in Athlone to face the charge against them. It is alleged that the three male suspects hijacked the delivery truck in Wellington Street, Durbanville and drove to Bishop Lavis, where the cargo was loaded into a delivery van.

From there the suspects went to a tavern in NY 123 Gugulethu where they were arrested, while offloading the liquor valued at a substantial amount. The tavern owner, a female was also arrested, while the hijacked truck was also recovered in Bishop Lavis.

The circumstances surrounding the case are being investigated and more suspects who evaded arrest on Tuesday evening are being sought.
