The Serious Organised Crime Investigating team of the Hawks in George together with K9 unit, Crime Intelligence and Provincial Organised Crime reacted promptly on information about a bakkie traveling from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town loaded with mandrax tablets.
A vehicle matching the description was stopped near Victoria Heights, George and upon searching the vehicle, the joint team led by Hawks members discovered drugs worth R132 000 hidden in an compartment behind the seat.
A 46-year-old suspect was arrested on the spot and he will appear before the George Magistrate Court on Monday, 8 February 2021 facing charges of dealing in drugs.
