Greater vigilance needed against farm attacks in the Western Cape

A new perspective on the real danger of farm attacks is needed in the Western Cape, where this violent criminal phenomenon is not yet as common as in other parts of the country.

Greater vigilance and preparation will ensure that farm attacks do not become a frequent crime in this province as well.

In the most recent incident, a 69-year-old woman was attacked and seriously injured on the farm Vergesig along the R101 between Paarl and Franschhoek.

According to sources, she was home alone when three men in a vehicle arrived at the farm entrance under the pretext that they wanted to buy sheep.

They overpowered her, tied her up and seriously assaulted her. They demanded money and firearms and, among other things, broke open a safe in the house.

The FF Plus laments the incident and wishes the victim a speedy recovery. It is imperative for the police to make a breakthrough in the investigation as soon as possible so that the perpetrators can be put behind bars, where they belong.
