PROTEST – On 10 May 2016 thousands of residents from the newly named Siyanyanzela informal settlement and surrounding areas in Grabouw set a vehicle alight and burnt down the local traffic department.
They were protesting evictions and calling for better housing. Residents blocked the main road forcing traffic officers to close down a section of the N2 highway.
