George police recover drugs, arrest 2 dealers, Touwsranten

Efforts by the Police to eradicate drug trafficking through intelligence-driven approach by operationalizing information received from the public, yielded positive results when members attached to the George Crime Prevention Unit arrested a 45-year-old woman and her 28-year-old son in Touwsranten on Saturday, 21 August 2021.

The duo is currently been detained at the George SAPS holding cells and scheduled to make their first court appearance on Monday, 23 August 2021.

This follows an Intelligence-driven operation during which members executed a search warrant which proved to be positive. On Saturday, 21 August 2021, members pounced on the residence of the duo in Touwsranten and ensued with a search of the premises. During the search, members discovered 230 grams of dagga, already packaged to be sold as well as 10 grams of Tik, also destined for local distribution in the neighbourhood of Touwsranten near Wilderness, George.

Members confiscated the find and subsequently arrested the duo. They are due to appear in the George Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 23 August 2021 after being charged for Illegal dealing in drugs.

The Eden Cluster Commander, Major General Oswald Reddy commended the members for their efforts to rid the streets from drugs and he further encouraged them to continue to work closely with communities in order to enhance their safety. He also promised that such operations will continue in order to create a safe haven for communities.
