Following three separate shooting incidents between rival groups at the River View Flats in Worcester in the week, Worcester police embarked on several operations that resulted in seven suspects arrested.

One shooting incident was captured in a video circulated on social media. The suspects arrested are 38, 32, 26, 23, 20 (two suspects) and 16 years old. In one operation, a revolver, rounds of ammunition and drugs were seized.

The operations in the area are set to continue in a bid to ensure the safety for all people.

The SAPS Provincial Management in the Western Cape has commended the continued efforts of police officials to fight gang violence and its manifestations. The suspects will appear in court on Monday, 27 August 2018 on charges of attempted murder, possession of illegal firearm, ammunition and drugs.
