Community involvement paid dividends when information provided was followed up and suspects subsequently arrested in the Steenberg area.

On Tuesday 21 August 2018 members attached to Operation Thunder arrested a 22 year old man for the possession of 37 x live 9mm rounds of ammunition. Information had been received from the community that the ammunition was being stored at a house in De Waal Court, Lavender Hill.

The members followed up and upon searching the premises, they found the suspect and the ammunition in the house.

In an unrelated matter, members of the Western Cape Tactical Response Team arrested two male suspects aged 17 and 23 for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Vogel Court, Lavender Hill. This was also the result of receiving information from the community that the two suspects went into a house in Vogel Court, Lavender Hill.

The members followed up on the information and arrested the suspects who were found in possession of a revolver with seven live rounds of ammunition. Both suspects will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on related charges.
