In our pursuit to create a safer environment for the people of the Western Cape, members attached to Kraaifontein police arrested a 17-year-old suspect for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm on the morning of 9 July 2020, at around 07:40. An intelligence driven operation with the focus on gang violence in the area led the members to a residence in Eastwood Drive, Northpine where the suspect was found with a .38 Special revolver and six rounds of ammunition. He is expected to make a court appearance in Blue Downs once he has been charged.

In Manenberg two suspects were apprehended on 8 July 2020, for being in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. At around 12:45 members of Manenberg police spotted a suspect shooting randomly in the street in Ruimte Road. The 23-year-old suspect was arrested in possession of a 9mm pistol and six rounds of ammunition. Fortunately no one was killed or wounded during his ruthless behaviour.

Later the day at 17:55 a 24-year-old suspect was arrested, also in Ruimte Road for being in possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol after he threatened a resident in the area.

These two suspects are expected to make their court appearances in Athlone once they have been charged.
