In their efforts to rid the streets of firearms and drugs, Kensington SAPS have arrested several suspects in operations held in their policing precinct.

On Thursday, 2 December 2021 at about 15:30 an intelligence driven operation was conducted by members attached to Kensington Detectives with the assistance of the Anti-Gang Unit.

The members went to the strong hold of a gang grouping in Kensington situated in Matroos Square Factreton. The following success were achieved:

A 21-year-old man was arrested on two murder cases registered for investigation at Kensington SAPS.

A 25-year-old man was also arrested for another murder case registered at Kensington SAPS.

One female aged 23 was arrested on charges of possession of prohibited firearm, ammunition and drugs.

The members seized one black Uzzi sub machine gun with serial number removed, 599 rounds of various ammunition, 1337 mandrax tablets, 796 grams of heroin, 23 packets methamphetamine, 79.16 grams of methamphetamine, 188 ecstasy tablets and 3.2 grams of ecstasy powder.

The suspects were detained at Kensington SAPS and are due to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Monday, 6 December 2021

The Provincial Commissioner of the Western Cape Police, Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile praised the efforts of the members involved for moving a step forward in creating a safer environment for the inhabitants of this province, ahead of the festive season.
