Bishop Lavis SAPS members were lauded for ensuring that an unlicensed firearm and crystal meth were recovered and a suspect arrested on Monday, 26 April 2021 at about 08:15.

The members responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle in front of a premises in Smalblaar Street, Bonteheuwel and upon arrival at the identified address, they noticed the vehicle as per information received. As they approached the vehicle, the occupant tried to flee but was apprehended by one of the members on the patrol vehicle.

The suspect was found in possession of a silver revolver with no ammunition and one sachet filled with crystal meth. He could not produce a valid licence to be in possession of the firearm.

The 31-year-old male, believed to be linked to a gang grouping was arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of drugs.

He will appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate court on the mentioned charges.
