In the quest of ensuring a safe and secure environment for all people in South Africa, a dedicated detective attached to Worcester SAPS has been working tirelessly to investigate the criminal conduct that endangered the safety of the community during an attempted murder which occurred in Worcester on 2014-03-03.

The Worcester Regional Court has sentenced two alleged gang members to an effective 10 and 11 years each imprisonment for attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

Brandon Boer, 24, alias Gelaggies, and Reginald Filander, 29, alias Eier, were sentenced on 18 April 2017.

The court praised the sterling investigative work of the investigating officer, Detective Constable John Saayman, who swiftly arrested the two accused just hours after the shooting incidents.

Consistent with the #Back2Basics approach towards policing, the thorough investigation of crime and the bringing of perpetrators before court are crucial in the efforts of the SAPS to ensure convictions.
