On Friday 13 July 2018, at 04:00, Bishop Lavis SAPS performed an authorised cordon off and search operation in the Bonteheuwel and Kalksteenfontein areas.
The operation was planned as a method to curb and stop the shootings and gang activity in the Bonteheuwel and Kalksteenfontein areas.
Seventeen arrests were made in varying cases during the very successful operation, varying from possession of drugs, assault, housebreaking and theft, Illegal possession of ammunition, possession of a prohibited firearm to an outstanding warrant of arrest.
The community and the local Community Police Forum praised the police for the work that was done and wish to have more similar operations to help restore peace and harmony in their neighbourhoods.
