Strides were made in addressing contact crimes in Nyanga, which resulted in the arrest of five suspects in connection with two cases of murder and two cases of attempted murder.
According to our information four people were shot on two different days, while they were in the same house in Daffodil Street, Heinz Park.
On 9 December 2017 two people were shot and one was fatally wounded. This was followed by another shooting on 23 December 2017 where two more people were also shot and one was fatally wounded.
Five suspects aged between 21 and 41 were subsequently arrested in connection with these incidents. All the suspects will appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ court, once charged.
The Provincial Commissioner of the Western Cape, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula, praised the members for working tirelessly to investigate crime and bring perpetrators to justice.
