CAPE TOWN — A deadly Cape Town taxi attack has claimed the lives of four individuals in the Nyanga suburb, sparking a major law enforcement investigation into what authorities strongly suspect is a targeted, taxi-related incident.
The quadruple homicide occurred when the victims were traveling along Old Klipfontein Road. According to official reports, their journey was abruptly interrupted when they pulled over to repair a flat tire.
Police spokesperson Andre Traut confirmed the details of the ambush, explaining that the occupants were attending to the stranded vehicle when they were suddenly targeted by unknown gunmen. The assailants opened fire on the group, inflicting fatal gunshot wounds. Responding medical personnel arrived promptly but tragically declared all four victims deceased at the scene.
While the exact motive is still being pieced together as part of the ongoing investigation, early indicators point toward local taxi violence. Forensic teams and detectives have scoured the Old Klipfontein Road crime scene for evidence, including ballistics and potential CCTV footage from the surrounding area.
As of the latest updates, no arrests have been made in connection with the ambush. Law enforcement officials are urging anyone with information regarding the unidentified shooters or the circumstances surrounding the fatal Cape Town taxi attack to come forward immediately as the manhunt for the suspects continues.
