The vigilance and swift response from members attached to the Western Cape Flying Squad landed a suspect behind bars for an attempted hijacking this morning, 23 September 2018. The members were on patrol in Govan Mbeki Road in Hanover Park when they came across two suspects attacking the driver of a Toyota Avanza in an attempt to hijack the vehicle.

In the process, the 38 year old man sustained stab wounds possibly inflicted with a knife. Upon approaching the scene, the two suspects fled on foot and soon afterwards, a 24 year old man was arrested.

The other suspect managed to evade his arrest and he is being sought. A search of the suspect also resulted in the discovery of mandrax tablets and dagga with a street value of about R400-00, and the knife possibly used in the attack.

The suspect is due to make a court appearance in Wynberg on Tuesday 25 September 2018, to face the charges against him.
